What is Dental Erosion?
Dental erosion is the loss of dental hard tissue found on the surface of the teeth due to chemical processes, usually an acid attack, without involving plaque. In our diet, some foods and beverages high in acids, and in susceptible individuals and under certain circumstances (eg. Greater exposure to food or drink acidic) soil erosion may occur. More frequent exposure can overwhelm the natural protective ability of the mouth, which varies between individuals.
It is advisable to avoid eating and drinking acidic foods and beverages during the day, limiting their consumption preferably to main meals, and brush your teeth at least twice a day using fluoride toothpaste. Read the rest of this entry »
