Nightmares and Night Terrors of Children and Babies
Stress, anxiety, nervousness and daily concerns prevent many children sleep soundly throughout the night. In these cases, the important thing is to stay beside the child and make them feel safe.
The child who just had a nightmare you have trouble sleeping for his sense of fear. The most convenient when you hear their cries is to go with him, lying on his bed (not in the parents’ bed) and stay with him until he relaxes. You have to reassure him with a calm voice, explaining that what he has experienced was a dream and you have to go back to sleep. If the child want to talk about it and tells his nightmare, it’s good to try to invent a happy ending to that dream in which defeat the monster. That will give you a little more security. When the child tries to get back to sleep is to let you know that will remain by your side to comfort him.
Other disabilities are night terrors, intense episodes that occur while the child is partially awake after a phase of intense dream. In this case the child is not fully awake, despite having wide-eyed, screaming or moving. It is even possible that the child does not receive the adult next to him while suffering this incident. So when you wake up do not remember anything of what happened and sleep soundly.
Night terrors are much less common than nightmares and usually related to lack of sleep or a state of fever. In these cases there to wake your child, it is best to be at your side until the episode has passed.
The importance of sleep habits
The key for the child to rest properly and sleep it easier are in a good education about sleep and that has a sense of protection.
We must always ensure that the activity is done before bed is relaxed. A massage or a story can be good practice for bedtime because the child prepare for sleep and create an atmosphere of tranquility.
Objects or symbols of protection are also positive for the child’s sense of security. You may be encouraged to take along his favorite stuffed animal or doll to hug them when they fear, or even an object like a blanket or a book. Additional lights or stick adhesive stars on the ceiling and emit light can be also two good tools to reduce the fear of the child.
Depression is considered the evil of our modern life
Depression is considered the evil of our modern life, we can say that is a mechanism that triggers our body and mind to have an escape from the pressure (from – pressure). Its origin is produced by various factors include: heredity, family pressures traumatic psychological experiences, tensions over environmental or social factors, intake of toxic drugs, life stress, among other things. This can precipitate depression, but for this to happen there must also be a biological deficiency of key nutrients or micronutrients in the body, which in a weak body would generate the breeding ground that will accommodate the discomfort.
The approach that I suggest to treat this illness is a holistic Body – Mind and Environment. Inside the Body field, I suggest the book as a recommendation of Professor Felipe Hernández Ramos “Eat if it Happiness” which may help in understanding the importance and impact of food on the treatment and strengthening our body, to treat Depression and other psychological disorders – emotional. Must be willing to come out of depression
To get out of depression must be willing to come out of depression.
Seems obvious and common sense, but if I have previously compared the depression like a maze that takes away the desire to get it is why, depression takes away the urge to get out of it, surely you know that you can listen to music or singing elevate your mood, but you do because you just do not feel like listening to music or singing.
The latter is like considering you’re too sick to go to the doctor.
This is the great problem of depression: Many hope to improve our mind to do something to help us overcome the depression rather than start doing something for this activity to improve our mood and help us to overcome depression.
The following are some ways to overcome depression:
1 .- He begins to hear the music more lively and cheerful you know .- No need to feel like listening to music, just do it, once you start listening I assure you it will be easier letting go, better if you have some type of music selected by state of mind that you feel.
2 .- Start doing your favorite exercises .- Do not say “do exercise”, but “make your favorite exercises” are exercises that you might not strive much but they are nice, ideally tuvieras and a selection of your favorite exercises . Read the rest of this entry »
Stress signals work differently in the brains of women and men
The highest rates of anxiety and depression occur among women may have a biological basis, according to an animal study by researchers at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA, published online here in ‘Molecular Psychiatry.
Specifically, they found that stress signals work differently in the brains of women and men, with women being more sensitive to low levels of a hormone that organizes the stress response in mammals – releasing factor corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF, for its acronym in English) and less able to adapt to higher levels than men.
It is known that women have a higher incidence of depression, posttraumatic stress disorder and other anxiety-related problems. However, until now ignored the biological mechanisms underlying that gap with men.
According to the author of this work, Rita J. Valentino, a behavioral neuroscientist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, “this is the first evidence that there is a difference between the sexes in how neurotransmitters and receptor signals exchanged.” Read the rest of this entry »
Causes and consequences of depression
Depression is considered by some as a disease caused by modern times, but the records show that doctors always existed, just diagnosed under other names and concepts. No one disputes, however, that the constant grind and the fact of being immersed in a consumer culture the most, increase the chances of being victims of evil. This is demonstrated by the figures. The problem manifests itself in different ways and the symptoms that are not always found in all patients equally. “Depression is an illness, because they have signs and symptoms and, although this may seem obvious, do not always realize it,” says Dr. Alberto Roffe, Mendizabal Foundation psychologist specializing in depression.
The time in which we live is characterized by mood swings and also continuous, presenting balanced rates between men and women who suffer from depression in our country. While we should not forget that “there are overlapping depressions and man tends to see less,” notes Dr. Louis Stoppa, who also serves as a psychologist specializing in depression at that institution. There are two basic forms of depression: reactive (or less) and endogenous (or higher). In the case of the first, emerges as a reaction to various external stimuli, so it’s easier treatment. As for endogenous depression, is characterized by deep and serious, but mostly unmotivated and rebellious, which slows healing. A depressed patient needs “mainly specialist help through psychotherapy. Not always advisable to use psychotropic drugs, which are used only in cases of acute depression that can lead to suicides, “confirms RoffĂ©. Contrary to what many assume about the features of depressed people (not having illusions, having lost the pleasure and interest in life), there are cases of depression where the presenting symptom is hyperactivity.
Behind the need to be everywhere at once and seek diversity of tasks to perform, lies a hidden depression: the person is not happy, sad, lonely, is suicidal. According to Dr. Roffe, “The hyperactivity as a symptom of depression is observed much in the kids, because sometimes they can not express in words what they feel and show it with actions.” The problem is not stay sad for a day, but if symptoms persist for more than two or three weeks must be taken because we find ourselves in a depressive symptoms and more importantly in these cases is diagnosed early enough.
