Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary tract infection or cystitis due to an infection of the urinary bladder usually caused by intestinal bacteria. It is more common in women than in men. At urinary tract infection, you feel pee more often than usual and it stings when urinating. Urine can sometimes be cloudy and smell bad. To relieve symptoms you should drink a lot and urinate frequently. Antibiotics are a common drug therapy for urinary tract infection

Why urinary tract infections occur?
Urinary tract infection due to bacteria that penetrated into the bladder through the urethra. Typically, the intestinal bacteria that man carries himself. If the bacteria at a urinary tract infection continue further up the body from the bladder up to the kidneys, a renal pelvic inflammation occur, which is a more severe form of urinary tract infection.
Women are affected more often than men of urinary tract infections because their urethra is shorter. When men suffer are often also infected prostate gland.
At menopause, it is common that women suffer more frequently from urinary tract infections because the female hormone estrogen decrease. Urinary tract becomes irritated easily, and urinary tract infection can occur.

Common symptoms of urinary tract infection
The most common signs of a urinary tract infection is frequent and urgency that you feel you pee often. It hurts when you pee and it feels as if your bladder does not empty completely. The urine may be cloudy and smell bad. It can also hurt in the lower abdomen and mild nausea may occur.

Diagnosis of urinary tract infection
Urinary tract infection is diagnosed by using a dipstick and a culture of urine.

Treatment for urinary tract infection
At a urinary tract infection is much you can try it for yourself to alleviate symptoms.
• Drink a lot and urinate frequently
• Drink acidic drinks like – juice, cranberry drink, lemon drink
• Pharmaceuticals – a short antibiotic treatment is the most commonly used.
