Irritable Bowel Syndrome : Causes and Diagnosis

Many people suffer from irritable bowel. Especially young adults are plagued by it and women twice as often as men.

Irritable bowel syndrome
is not a serious condition but it is tricky. Many people experience in daily pain and discomfort of many. Some people have occasional problems with other continuously.

Irritable bowel syndrome, so named because the intestines are irritated and there are several symptoms (syndrome). Other names are spastic colon or spastic colon. The abbreviation of irritable bowel syndrome IBS, but the English term irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is sometimes used.

Causes

The cause of irritable bowel syndrome is not entirely clear but is thought to be caused by abnormal, spasmodic contraction of the large intestine (the colon). The large intestine moves in with everyone together to continue to push the stool, but in people with irritable bowel syndrome, these irregular and spasmodic contractions. Also draws together the colon more often than usual.

In some people, the movements of the normal colon, but is hypersensitive and irritable bowel wall. People can also suffer from a combination of abnormal movements and an irritable bowel wall.

Diagnosis

If you often have symptoms, it is wise to talk with your doctor. On the basis of a physical examination, the doctor usually make the diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome.

More research may be needed if symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome all ways, including:

* The symptoms begin later in life (50 +)
* The symptoms are a time traveler diarrhea without abdominal pain
* The symptoms are interim changes
* There are other problems than those associated with IBS, such as blood in the stool, fever or weight loss
