Are Online Medications Legal?
Over the past decade or so, the number of Americans purchasing online medications has rapidly increased. Millions of Americans lack health insurance with prescription drug coverage; they find that online medications are the only way they can afford to take prescribed medications. Other Americans are looking to buy medications proven safe, but not available for sale in the United States.
The US government frowns on online medications from overseas, but does not arrest citizens who buy online medications in up to a three month supply of a non-controlled substance. Online medications are available from Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Barbados, India, Italy, Israel, South Africa, New Zealand and more.
If you are hesitant to buy medications online, just remember that most countries have a counterpart to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration which is just as stringent. Counterfeit medication is the main reason the US FDA cites when they say they don’t want online medications imported into the US. The risk of counterfeit medication is greatest from from developing countries with no FDA equivalent, so be careful where you shop.
On rare occasions, US customs will seize your order of online medications when it reaches the US. If you ordered online medications from a reputable online pharmacy, they will replace them free of charge.
